What To Do If You Have Been In An Accident
Immediately After the Accident:
Stay calm and try to move the vehicle to a safe location out of the way of traffic if possible.
Check for injuries and seek emergency medical attention if necessary.
Call the police (911) to report the accident.
Collect Driver & Insurance Information
Make sure you write down and/or take a photo to secure the following information for the other driver(s) involved.
1. Driver(s) Information:
- Driver(s) license number,
- Driver(s) license state
- Date of birth
- Contact Information such as: address & phone number
2. Drivers Insurance Information:
- Insurance company name
- Insurance company phone number
- Policy number
- Policyholder’s name
3. Passenger & Witness Information:
- Passenger/Witness name
- Contact Information such as: address & phone number
4. Vehicle Information:
- Vehicle make, model, & color
- Vehicle license plate
- Make sure you take photos of your vehicle’s damage as well as any other drivers vehicle’s damage involved in the accident.
5. Other Information:
- Location, date, and time of the accident
- Name of police department and police report number (if applicable)
